KNOWING SYSTEMS and the Medicine Wheel Concept - A Presentation to the Department of Humanistic Parapsychology

In 1986 a dear friend and colleague, Jackie Seipp, asked if I would speak to a class in the Department of Humanistic Parapsychology at the University of Winnipeg on Knowing Systems. Always up for a challenge, I agreed. Amongst many things, parapsychology deals with topics such as telepathy, precognition, and psychokinesis. I believed students would be open to a lecture on the Human Brain in relation to the Medicine Wheel Concept and the use of Crystals as a means to maintain consciousness.
After all, they had studied the great French thinker, August Comte (1798-1857). Comte's theory of intellectual development was held in three stages: the technological, the metaphysical and the scientific. His contemporary, Erich Fromm expounded on this elaborate system of social ethics. Fromm's position was that if a person faces the truth without panic they will recognize that there is no meaning to life except the meaning one gives their own life. He went on to say that Human is at last becoming aware that they alone are responsible for the realization of the world of their dreams, that they have within them self the power for its achievement. In essence, a person creates their own reality. Just as in the Medicine Wheel Concept, thought manifests.
This introduction was the staring point of neuroscience, or the basic mechanism of thought, in relation to the Medicine Wheel Concept. Because the students were open to nonlinear associative thought process they were quick to grasp parallel studies of quantum physics (Codes of Creation) and the Medicine Wheel Concept.
The lecture began by introducing how the Quantum Code combines quantum fields into forms of matter and life as I pointed to stones on the model of the Medicine Wheel which held the positions of Matter and Life. Explaining how within the Genetic Code specific sequences are linked to different genetic codes led into how the sequence of elements required to create life are translated into the central placement of stones on the Medicine Wheel. In order for thought to come to life, it follows a certain process, i.e.
- The middle stone represents the sender of the thought and connection to all that is.
- The stone of Matter comes in contact with stone of Energy.
- Energy transfers to the stone of Dimension.
- As thought takes shape it connects with the stone of Time.
- With enough Time it moves to the stone of Motion.
- Once in Motion thought connects to the stone of Spirit.
- When thought comes in contact with Spirit, it automatically connects to the stone of Life, and manifests.
To draw comparisons I explained how the Synaptic Code combines connections that create networks of circuits to form the basis of learning, memory and behavior and showed how they are also found in the radiating spokes on the Medicine Wheel. I pointed to the placement of stones and explained how they symbolize the basis of learning and memory then spoke of how the brain and the Medicine Wheel Concept share ordinary dimension of time and space and at the same time both share a synaptic evolution, or a complete structure of molecules (stones) that connect neurons (thoughts) and evolve dynamic synaptic links which are the basis of thought and behavior.
I pointed to the model of the Medicine Wheel and shared how the structure and placement of the stones form a connection where each stone pulls subtle energies, and at the same time combines to make a number of variations that make up the whole.
No one had gotten up and left the room so I continued to share how the DNA, or structure of the world is translated into a population of synapses contained in the brain, and how the Medicine Wheel Concept is translated into a series of placements contained on the wheel.
The human brain constructs maps and models that portrays learning, memory and consciousness. Any organism using the synaptic code to process information is engaging in thought. As the origin of thought coincides with the origin of synapse, this too is the function of the Medicine Wheel.
The comparison between the human brain and the Medicine Wheel Concept was even fascinating to me as I went on to say how each shares a unique communication system. The brain has a chemical communication which is nonlinear and it is through this web that the higher brain functions have developed. Minerals and crystals on the Medicine Wheel contain subtle realms of energy and exhibit the properties of both piezoelectricity and pyroelectricity. (Piezoelectricity is the quality whereby electricity, and sometimes light, is produced via compression. Pyroelectricity is the quality of an electrified state, or polarity, which is produced by, and changed with, variation in temperature.) Both allow for rapid communication of electrical channels and contain the element of a neurotransmitter which is the first messenger that triggers the receptor. In the case of the Medicine Wheel Concept the Receptor is the individual working with the wheel.
Genetically, we are the true bringers of original source in that we carry and nurture a cell on any automatic level and are responsible for its well being to a certain stage. The same theory applies to the Medicine Wheel Concept and the sacred teachings it imparts. The messenger RNA links genetic and synaptic codes which is the theory of learning and memory to the molecular level or the quantum code. In the brain, the neocortex is where information is mapped and modeled. The Medicine Wheel also maps and models information.
The brain has two cerebral hemispheres, each divided into four lobes and the Medicine Wheel has two main routes divided into quarters that reflect neuronial assemblies and convergence zones. Just as the synaptic code evolved from genetic and quantum codes and conforms to their rules, the Medicine Wheel evolved from teachings of the stories of creation and conforms to universal codes of Love, Growth, Truth, Cleansing, Purity and Renewal.
